Why Android wins against iPhone

People got excited last week because two companies introduced home screen replacements for Apple's iPhone and Google Android. Unfortunately, there's a twist: teehan+lax's replacement is a mockup because of Apple's restricted development platform. In contrast, Larva Labs introduced the Intelligent Home Screen for Android. The development is in an early stage, yet the development is possible because Google offers a very open platform to its developers. As Matt Hall from Larva Labs points out:

In previous posts we’ve talked about how, despite some growing pains, we thought Android looked very interesting as a phone platform in the medium to long term.
